Week 13

Hello Parents, We are working on The Hindenburg now. Below shows what we are doing this week. Monday:  Read the text. Listen to the audio version, ask and answer questions. HW: Voc. wk 13 11-20; 3 times each and 1 sentence or definition each.  Tuesday: Vocabulary Review: 1-20 HW: RWN book p.409 Wednesday:  RWN book: p.421-422 Homework: RWN p. 420 Thursday: RWN: p.421-422 Homework: Finish workbook pages and study for the vocabulary test tomorrow. Week 12

 Hello Parents, This is our second week on King Midas. Last week we read through the story, covered the vocabulary, and some grammar concepts. Below shows what we are doing this week. Monday:  No school. Tuesday: Vocabulary Review: 1-20 Story Review: online quiz Homework:Vocabulary words 3 times each and a sentence or definition each. Wednesday:  RWN grammar: Story timeline review: plot and climax or turning point Practice Compare and Contrast, & Commas. Homework: RWN p. 409 & 417 Thursday: Workbook corrections. RWN: p.411 vocabulary, 413 suffixes, 416 Spelling Homework: Finish workbook pages and study for the test tomorrow. Friday:  Workbook: corrections Weekly Quiz/Test Have a good week. Week 10

Hello Parents, Here's the weekly schedule for The Mystery of Saint Matthew Island. Because last week was test week, we had some delays in the schedule. Monday:  Review week 9: 1-20 vocabulary words and practice.  Conjunctions: introduction with compound subject, predicate, or sentence. Homework: Vocabulary 11-20 from week 9: words written 3 x's each, 1 sentence or definition for each word. Tuesday: Review week 10 vocabulary words 1-10.  Conjunctions and Compound Subject/Predicate/Sentence: RW workbook p. 399 & 406. Practice vocabulary terms in the Readers & Writers Notebook p.398 and 400. Homework: Week 10 words 1-10 written 3 x's each, 1 sentence or definition for each word. Find and fix RW workbook corrections. Wednesday:  Review the story  — The Mystery of Saint Matthew Island. Note vocabulary terms in the text. Practice finding and noting details and how they support the main idea of a paragraph. RW notebook: p. 396. Homework: Week 10 words 11-20 written 3 x

Week 9

  Hello Parents, And we're back. It's test week for grade 6. Here's the schedule. Monday: We reviewed vocabulary in class. I hope some of the strategies we practiced helped students prepare better. Tuesday: Students are taking their written tests. Wednesday: Read, ask, and answer questions on the new story  — The Mystery of Saint Matthew Island. Thursday: Review the new story  — The Mystery of Saint Matthew Island. Review vocabulary terms. Readers & Writers Notebook p.398 and 400. Week 8

  Hello Parents, We have a 3 day week because of the holiday. Today(Monday), we took a quiz on 20 vocabulary terms. We also started the oral tests. Tomorrow(Tuesday), we will take a test on the grammar, vocabulary, and some of the story of Austin's Amazing Bats. We will also continue with the oral tests. On Wednesday, students will have a Reading/Listening exam. We will review exam results, and workbooks, then as well. All the best. Sincerely, Mr. Jones

Week 7

Hello Parents, Here is some news on the week ahead for G6. Today(Monday), we covered modifiers in the Readers Writers Notebook: p.388 & 395. Homework is to write vocabulary words and sentences. We'll start going over vocabulary terms on Wednesday, as students are on a field trip on Tuesday. On Thursday, we will continue reviewing vocabulary and doing some related learning activities. We will also be looking at the vocabulary terms as they are used in the text: Austin's Amazing Bats. So we'll be working on comprehension as well.
